British country act Ward Thomas have announced a major UK tour for 2026 in celebration of their landmark album Cartwheels.

Taking place throughout September next year - and including a special date at the iconic London Palladium - the tour will see twin sisters Catherine and Lizzy Ward Thomas perform the album in its entirety backed by full band, revisiting the record that made history as the first ever by a British country act to reach No.1 on the UK Albums Chart.

Released in 2016, Cartwheels was the Hampshire duo’s second album and the record that propelled them from emerging singer-songwriters to trailblazers of a new British country-pop sound.

Written between home and Nashville, the album showcased their sharp lyrical storytelling and effortless harmonies, with standout singles including Carry You Home, Guilty Flowers and the title track Cartwheels. The Guardian hailed the record as “a slick slice of country pop”.

Reflecting on the milestone, Lizzy Ward Thomas said: “We can’t believe it’s been 10 years since the release of our album Cartwheels. This album went to number 1 in the UK charts!! So we had to plan a celebration for its 10-year anniversary! We’ll be coming on tour playing some really incredible venues, bringing our full band, doing a type of show we haven’t done in a long time!”

Alan Davies is a critically acclaimed stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and TV personality. He is a staple of British television, known for his performance as the eponymous hero of David Renwick’s hugely popular, long-running TV series Jonathan Creek, and as a permanent panelist on QI. His talk show, Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled, recently reached its seventh season.

He is also one of the UK’s best-loved comedians. His stand-up show Urban Trauma ran in London’s West End, and Life is Pain and Little Victories sold out in venues across the UK. His second memoir, Just Ignore Him, was published in 2020 and the third instalment was published last year.

A Year of Attempting to Feel Less Awful About the World.

"No one’s inventing good, new futures any more,’ I say to my husband, Pete. ‘Everyone seems resigned to accepting that things will be dreadful. I can’t bear it. I need us to do something different."

One morning, Caitlin Moran woke up - and realised that she had reached Peak Despair. And she’s not alone - in a world of worsening news, online fist-fights, and filthy rivers, it’s hard not to feel, well, terrible. Of course, in books, and movies, when the heroine faces such a crisis, she makes a seismic life-change: moving to a remote, ramshackle farmhouse; walking an ancient, 600-mile pathway; or reconnecting with her primal, joyful self by adopting a baby hawk, or hare.

But Caitlin’s new book, How to be Hopeful, is not that kind of book. She tried - but it turns out remote Welsh farmhouses are really expensive. No-one with a job can walk 600 miles. And it’s incredibly hard to get access to baby hawks in North London.

Instead, Caitlin decided to go on....a domestic quest. To see if she could stay in the same house, in the same neighbourhood, and the same awful modern world - but try to make better days. She left 800,000 followers on social media; eschewed 24/7 rolling-news for local newspapers; and sat on buses without headphones, to start listening to what people are really saying. Turns out they’re not, by and large, shouting hate-crimes at each other. They’re just working out whether to have chicken, or sausages for tea, instead.

Picking litter, donating blood, rewilding a garden, trying to understand where modern anxiety really comes from - slowly, all these things allowed for something that had felt impossible a year before: Caitlin learned to fall back in love with the world again.

How to be Hopeful is Caitlin’s story of how, over the course of a year, she realised that “waiting to feel hopeful again” just won’t work: being hopeful is a decision. Celebrating four decades at the forefront of British jazz, Courtney Pine CBE returns to the stage this year with Out of the Ghetto: A Modern Day Jazz Story - a powerful retrospective tour in 2027.

A ground-breaking saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist, Pine has led a generation of innovative players who have broadened jazz’s reach and connected it with wider audiences.

Courtney Pine has released 17 studio albums under his own name and is widely recognised as one of the UK’s leading jazz musicians. Constantly pushing creative boundaries, he has remained at the cutting edge of the scene throughout his career. A highly respected broadcaster, Pine is best known for his long-running Jazz Crusade show on BBC Radio 2 and for presenting award-winning radio documentaries for the BBC. His recordings and live performances have received widespread critical recognition, earning numerous honours including BBC Jazz Awards, MOBO Awards, and Mercury Music Prize nominations.

This special live show brings together key moments from Pine’s remarkable catalogue, alongside previously unreleased material reimagined with the fire and freedom that have made his performances legendary.

Award-winning novelist and journalist Omar El Akkad joins Gary Younge to discuss his international bestselling, debut non-fiction book One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This.

As sisters with two distinct yet complementary styles, Lata and Asha created an unparalleled musical legacy. Folk-rock cult hero, queer icon, and one of Britain’s most beloved songwriters returns.

For a decade and a half, Grace Petrie has been one of the UK’s most urgent and passionate songwriters. Coming of age amidst the coalition government, her politically charged folk music quickly gained national attention and propelled her to the main stages of folk festivals from Cambridge to Vancouver to the Blue Mountains of Australia. Characterised by razor-sharp lyricism and the unmistakeable passion of her stage presence, her live shows have become synonymous for fans with a unique atmosphere of hope and solidarity, with LGBTQ anthem Black Tie racking up 1.5 million streams and providing a soundtrack of expression for young queer folks all over the world.

An irrepressible live performer, Grace has toured relentlessly to build loyal audiences in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada, as well as providing tour support for Billy Bragg, Frank Turner and Emmy-winner Hannah Gadsby. She has appeared on ITVX, Channel 4, Sky Arts, BBC Radio 2’s Folk Show and been a regular guest on The Guilty Feminist podcast, and performed live BBC sessions for Tom Robinson (6music) and Jo Whiley (Radio 2). British Art Show 10: A Chorus of Strangers is organised around three overlapping curatorial themes that span the psychological, sociological and ecological. Each theme is inspired by the work of an influential British writer or theorist who has grappled with the tensions between the Individual and the Other.

Moments of Being
Moments of Being takes its title from Virginia Woolf’s description of the fleeting instances when the surface of ordinary life seems to lift, offering a brief glimpse into the interconnectedness of existence. The artists featured here similarly turn inward as they observe the world around them. Drawing on dreams, memory, and the subconscious, they explore the blurred boundaries between mind and body, reality and imagination. Their works suggest a way of understanding ourselves and the conditions that shape our shared experience.

Ways of Living
Ways of Living is inspired by cultural theorist Stuart Hall’s idea that culture and identity are always changing and being reshaped by the shifting interplay of politics, power and history. Working with personal or collective memories, the artists featured here illuminate how fragments of the past continue to shape contemporary life, and how individual stories intersect with larger historical currents. Collectively, these works explore how a common ground might be built by actively reimagining life with one another.

States of Nature
States of Nature is inspired by ecological philosopher Timothy Morton’s call for a greater awareness of our relationship with the environment: an understanding that all life forms are fundamentally interconnected within a vast, complex network of being. This theme brings together artists whose work embraces the natural world in its abundance, beauty, and complexity. Animals, plants, air and water are highlighted as part of our shared living history, foregrounding ways of coexisting that challenge the human-centric and invite us to imagine a new relationship with the planet.

Celebrating 60 years of A Love Supreme.

Bassist, band leader and co-founder of Tomorrow’s Warriors, Gary Crosby OBE teams up with Mercury Prize nominee and MOBO award winning saxophonist Denys Baptiste to lead an all-star quartet for this celebration of what is widely regarded as the greatest jazz album of all time: John Coltrane’s’ A Love Supreme.

Marking the 60-year anniversary of the recording of the album, Gary and Denys will be joined by Andrew McCormack (piano), and Rod Youngs (drums).

Discussing the impact that Coltrane’s magnus opus had on him, Gary Crosby explains: “Hearing A Love Supreme for the first time was a life-changing moment for me as a young musician. There were so many complexities in the compositions and the arrangements, but the groove and directness were real. It is musically as close to a spiritual moment as I have ever had - a message from the mountain top, mindblowing but completely rooted in everything I believed music could be. Coltrane stands above all others as a musician. A jazz deity? Possibly. All I know is that with A Love Supreme, he preached, and we all listened!"

Nobody does it better, harder, faster, or funkier than Fanfare Ciocarlia.

Fanfare Ciocarlia is widely recognised as the world's fastest and most energetic brass band, renowned for their breakneck speeds (often 130–200 BPM). Having learnt their craft at the feet of their fathers and grandfathers, they proudly approach every concert as a challenge to keep the true spirit of gypsy music alive.

When the brass orchestra from the “hidden” village of Zece Prajini in north-eastern Romania takes the stage, the crowd receives 100% gypsy music. Because of their village's isolation, the ancient Ottoman tradition of brass bands continued to exist here under communism when it had long died out elsewhere. When a young German music fan wandered into the village in 1996, he found a living tradition that he knew the world would embrace.

And so they did: Fanfare Ciocarlia conquered Europe in 1997, their furious live blast appealing to punks, jazz fans, world music aficionados, and even the classical world. Everyone who heard them agreed: no brass band had ever played as fast or sounded like this before. The Times of London described it as “a heavy, heavy monster sound.”

Along the way, they have been championed in all kinds of media: they star in several films, own the cover of Princes Amongst Men, and were commissioned by Sacha Baron Cohen for the Borat soundtracks. Their radical reinterpretations of Western standards show how they effortlessly “gypsify” any music they get their horns on.

Besides making great music, they have developed brilliant musical theatre, released twelve albums, and played over 4,000 concerts. They like to consider themselves “the hardest working band in the blow biz.”

As the BBC's International Editor, Jeremy has spent over 40 years covering more than 90 countries and 20 wars. From El Salvador in 1989 to the frontlines today, he has interviewed world leaders, documented war crimes, been shot at, and survived to tell the stories.

Behind a normal door in an ordinary house lies a museum that is anything but.

For decades, Reece Shearsmith has been collecting terrible things. The screaming skull of Glamis Castle, the Highgate vampire, sea devils, witch hunters and a talking mongoose called Gef. Some of them he found. Some of them found him. Now, for the first time, he opens the door.

Co-creator of The League of Gentlemen, Psychoville and Inside No. 9, Reece is no stranger to the morbid and macabre. In this live show, he will guide audiences through the bizarre artefacts and obsessions that have quietly shaped everything he has made.

Each object in Reece’s collection has a story, and each story reaches further back than the last: from a terrifying childhood encounter on a Hull council estate to haunted dressing rooms, uncanny creatures at the edges of long film shoots, and stranger things still…

Join musician and arts journalist Stephanie Phillips as she reclaims the history of rock ’n’ roll.

We Were Here is a reclamation of rock’n’roll for the Black artists who tore up and re-wrote its rules, by musician, arts and culture journalist and die-hard alternative music superfan, Stephanie Phillips.

As a music journalist and musician who writes for numerous publications including The Guardian, New Statesman, Vice and The Wire, Stephanie started the Black feminist punk band Big Joanie. Her new book promises to rip up the received history of rock ’n’ roll and alternative music and repopulate it with the extraordinary Black artists and influential figures who truly steered its course from the 1930s to the present day.

In this special event, Stephanie discusses vital figures such as Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Little Richard, Jimi Hendrix, Tina Turner, Betty Davis, Poly Styrene, Bad Brains and beyond. Stephanie will be in conversation with performer, singer, artist, band leader and songwriter, Pauline Black. A lifelong love of music inspired by punk and reggae artists from the 1970s led Pauline to join The Selecter, which went on to become a platinum-selling band and one of the most influential within the 2-Tone music scene.

Ruby Turner's career to date has always had many unexpected twists and turns, and with major tours, theatre and TV appearances, and touring with Jools Holland, the future continues to look positive.

Ruby Turner was born in Jamaica and grew up in Montego Bay. Her Grandfather sang the lead in one of the Island's Gospel Groups. Moving to England when she was nine, Ruby has lived here ever since.

Her major break came in the mid 1980s, when she was asked to join Culture Club at the height of their stardom. Ruby very quickly learned how to deal with the routine of gruelling tour schedules, living out of a suitcase and performing to vast sell-out audiences.

An offer of a solo record deal closely followed and she soon signed to Jive Records, part of the Zomba Group. Four albums and a "Best of" Compilation Album were all released to critical acclaim over the next few years making Ruby a household name. This period went on to spawn the hits I'd Rather Go Blind, If You're Ready (Come Go With Me) and in the American R'n'B chart, the Number 1 hit single It's Gonna Be Alright - one of less than ten British records to achieve this! It was at this time that she also released her hit album The Motown Songbook on which she performed with some of the truly great stars of that era - The Four Tops, The Temptations, Jimmy Ruffin etc.

On 4 June 2012, Ruby performed You Are So Beautiful with Jools Holland at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Concert outside Buckingham Palace in London. In Autumn 2012, Ruby was a guest judge on BBC The Choir: Sing While You Work with Choirmaster Gareth Malone and in 2013 Ruby was a guest judge on BBC Songs of Praise Gospel Choirs Competition. In June 2016, Ruby was awarded an MBE.

To date, Ruby has released 17 albums plus the BBC's Live From Glastonbury, as well as appearing on releases by the likes of Brian Ferry, UB40, Steve Winwood and Mick Jagger. She is also one of the main singers in Jools Holland's R&B Orchestra, and features on many tracks on his albums.

When 10cc co-founder Graham Gouldman formed what became Heart Full of Songs more than a decade ago, it was purely for the pleasure of laying the songs he wrote or co-wrote in their simplest form, acoustically.

It started as a three-piece supporting at 10cc concerts and quickly evolved into a stand-alone entity. These days, Heart Full of Songs is a semi-acoustic/electric, four-piece with its next UK tour set for October 2026.

Featuring material from across Graham’s catalogue, the set includes such classics as 10cc’s I’m Not In Love and Dreadlock Holiday; Bus Stop and Look Through Any Window, which were hits for The Hollies; For Your Love and Heart Full of Soul (the Yardbirds); No Milk Today (Herman’s Hermits); Bridge To Your Heart from his time with the late Andrew Gold as Wax, along with songs from film soundtracks and his solo albums.

Acknowledgement of Graham’s achievements has been growing more widely too, with him awarded an MBE in the 2025 King’s Birthday Honours list, for services to music.

Also underpinning his position as one of the world’s leading songwriters were the guest contributors on his latest album, I have Notes. They include Ringo Starr, Brian May, Hank Marvin and Albert Lee.

The award-winning Once Upon a Time in Sokoto tells the epic story of a beautiful but unlikely friendship forged between a slave and her former master. Differences in faith, culture and heritage are overcome in the face of new enemies, in a gripping family drama set against the backdrop of events leading to the creation of Nigeria.

Winner of the 2024 Alfred Fagon Award for Once Upon a Time in Sokoto, Nigeria-born Inua Ellams is an internationally celebrated poet, playwright, and artist. He has published four poetry collections and his plays include the hugely popular and critically acclaimed Barber Shop Chronicles (Fuel/National Theatre, UK and International tour) and the award-winning The 14th Tale (Fuel/UK tour) and his retelling of Three Sisters (National Theatre).

Once Upon a Time in Sokoto is presented in association with Touring Together - a new national programme, bringing bold stories which shine a fresh light on the world we live in today, to audiences across the country.

The Francis Rossi ‘Songbook: Quo – Past, Present, Future’ show will include, of course, a hand-picked host of Francis’ many evergreen Status Quo classics, some deep cuts; and he is also working up a new medley.

This tour is the only place to hear Francis’ own selections and interpretations from his incredible catalogue, plus the added bonus of some commentary and insight from the man himself.

The nightclubs are closing, the village is dying, we’re tired and scared, but the beat of the dance floor’s heart keeps on pumping.

Congregational, is an act of coming together - a newly composed choral service for the nightclub, from artist and vocalist Fatt Butcher. Part concert, part-communion, part-resurrection, the show is a ceremony for the dancefloor; a service to dying nightlife that reminds us to keep on living.

Join your guide Fatt Butcher, heralded by critics as "the incredible vocal powerhouse" (West End Best Friend) and "the accelerating decline of humanity" by trolls on Twitter, on a guided journey of collectivity, song, and the transcendental powers of amyl-nitrate.

Featuring a live choir of professional queer vocalists, complete with superstar DJ and virtuosic piano accompaniment, expect a thumping original score of newly composed hymns for the dancefloor blending house, trance, gospel, classical and experimental music.

The Albion Christmas Band returns this December for its 27th year of touring, continuing a cherished festive tradition that marks the true beginning of Christmas for audiences across the UK.

Described by The Guardian as “the perfect antidote to the corporate Christmas,” the show blends seasonal songs, carols, storytelling and stellar musicianship into an evening filled with warmth, humour and winter magic. At its heart is the extraordinary voice of Kellie While, whose breathtaking singing brings both expression and intimacy to every performance.

The current line-up evolved from The Albion Band, founded over 50 years ago by Ashley Hutchings MBE, one of the most influential forces in British folk music. Bob Dylan described Hutchings as “the single most important figure in English folk rock,” recognising a career that has left an indelible mark on British music.

The Albion story is also intertwined with some of the most respected names in folk. Simon Nicol, long-time member of Fairport Convention and one of the defining guitarists and singers of the English folk revival, has been a key collaborator over the decades. Simon Care, renowned for his expressive melodeon playing and tireless work across folk and roots music, brings energy, sensitivity and virtuosity to the stage. Representing a newer generation, acclaimed singer-songwriter Blair Dunlop - award-winning guitarist and son of Ashley Hutchings - carries the Albion legacy forward with his own celebrated career, blending traditional influences with contemporary songwriting.

A celebration of the iconic album performed live by Amy's original band.

The Amy Winehouse Band - Amy’s original band who were with her from the very start throughout her meteoric rise - have announced a major UK tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of her defining album, Back to Black.

Released in 2006, Back to Black became the album that transformed Amy Winehouse from a rising British talent into a global cultural force. It propelled her to unprecedented heights, culminating in five GRAMMY Award wins at the 2008 ceremony (Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best New Artist), making her the first British woman to win that many in one night. Performing with her that evening, as they had since her earliest gigs in London pubs, was her band.

Now, The Amy Winehouse Band continue to bring her catalogue to audiences around the world, keeping Amy’s musical legacy alive and giving new generations the chance to experience these modern classic songs performed live.

Led by Amy’s long time musical director and bass player Dale Davis, The Amy Winehouse Band features members who both toured and recorded with Amy throughout her career.

2027 marks 50 years since the passing of the King of Rock ’n’ Roll. 2024 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist World Champion Emilio Santoro celebrates the legacy of Elvis Presley in a spectacular live tribute show.

Backed by his authentic 1950s band, The Creoles, Emilio brings Elvis’ early career to life, from the iconic Sun Records recordings and classic movie years to the legendary ’68 Comeback Special. Audiences can expect timeless hits including Jailhouse Rock, Hound Dog, Blue Suede Shoes, Devil in Disguise, Suspicious Minds, plus many more.

Emilio’s rise to international success has been remarkable. The Rubbish Shakespeare Company presents a tragedy like no other. Three hapless idiots attempt the Bard’s most famous love story using nothing but a box of tatty wigs, a worn floral dress, and a burst airbed found by the bins.

This acclaimed take on Romeo & Juliet is a riotous hour of frenetic slapstick, clowning and fourth-wall-breaking chaos. Taking huge liberties with the original text, the company splices Shakespeare’s classic lines with modern gags, physical comedy and gloriously silly storytelling that keeps everyone - from age 5 to 105 - completely hooked.

Wet Wet Wet celebrate the 40th anniversary of their iconic debut album Popped In Souled Out - the record that announced them to the world and launched one of Britain’s most successful pop careers.

Released in 1987, Popped In Souled Out was the album that introduced Wet Wet Wet to not only a national audience, but a global one too. The record went multi-platinum in the UK and established the band as one of the key British acts of the late 1980s, whilst breaking into the Billboard Charts in the USA.

The band will perform songs from Popped In Souled Out alongside a catalogue of beloved hits spanning their remarkable career. The show will celebrate both where it all began, as well as what followed.

There is nothing more British than a cup of tea.

Tea is our national drink and our national obsession. Yet the history of tea is the ultimate global story. It links over 350 years of British history to the histories of China, India, the Caribbean, and the United States. It encompasses the Boston Tea Party, the Opium Wars, and the history of the British East India Company. It is a story that involves industrial espionage and a vast forgotten migration within India, and the creation in Britain of a whole new world of domestic traditions and even new consumer household goods.

In this brand-new talk for 2027, David Olusoga uses art and photography, history and humour to uncover the strange and unexpected history of our national drink, adding this subject to his previous ever-popular Missing History talks.

David has become a household name over the years, most recently interviewing President Barack Obama and reaching the finals of the BBC hit TV series Celebrity Traitors. David has been back on BBC 2 with his brand-new series of Empire, with a new series of A House Through Time scheduled for Spring 2026.

David is the author/co-author of eight books, including Black & British: A Forgotten History, awarded both the Longman-History Today Trustees Award and the PEN Hessell-Tiltman Prize.

Björn Again. The original Australian ABBA Homage has amassed over 5,800 shows in 78 countries in 39 years.

Rod Stephen had previously been working in metallurgical research when at the age of 29 and, inspired by legendary New Zealand band Split Enz’s musicianship and theatrics, opted for a career change to create a new concept by revisiting the music and fashion of the 1970s.

Rod had originally considered basing a nostalgic show on one of three all time top bands, The Beatles, Queen and ABBA. Believing that the latter globally encapsulated all that was good (and maybe some not so good?) about the 1970s, he decided ABBA was ideal to focus his efforts on. After countless auditions and months of rehearsals and studying music and videos all Rod then needed was to devise a great show format to go with the name…and then Björn Again was ready to rock and roll!

Having been acknowledged by Björn Ulvaeus as being the show that single-handedly initiated the ABBA revival in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Björn Again is hailed as the most popular and successful show of its type.

With Lost Dog’s blend of dance, theatre, and comedy, this duet reveals the real story of Romeo and Juliet.

It turns out they didn’t die in a tragic misunderstanding, they grew up and lived happily ever after. Well, they lived at least.

Now they’re 40ish, at least one of them is in the grips of a mid-life crisis, they feel constantly mocked by their teenage selves and haunted by the pressures of being the poster couple for romantic love. They have decided to confront their current struggles by putting on a performance - about themselves. Their therapist told them it was a terrible idea.

This duet takes on our cultural obsession with youth and our inevitable issues with longevity.

Juliet and Romeo was co-commissioned by Battersea Arts Centre and The Place.

From his childhood in Hounslow to the global rise of Deep Purple, Ian will reflect on the experiences, music and outlook on life that shaped one of rock’s most influential careers. The tour offers a rare chance to hear directly from a true icon of rock music.

Ian Gillan’s career now spans more than six decades, with his voice remaining one of the most distinctive and celebrated in rock. Formed in 1968, Deep Purple are pioneers of hard rock. In 1969, Ian joined Deep Purple in what became one of the pivotal moments in rock history. Their 1972 album Machine Head includes the iconic track Smoke on the Water, cementing their legacy as one of the most influential bands of the music genre.

Fresh from their sold-out 2026 UK dates and a hugely successful tour in Australia earlier this year, Fisherman’s Friends have announced a new UK tour for 2027.

The announcement comes as the beloved Cornish group launch the very first Fisherman’s Friends Festival in Cornwall, a landmark three-day celebration of music, maritime heritage and Cornish culture.

For a group whose remarkable story has inspired two hit feature films and a successful touring stage musical, the new dates mark yet another chapter in an extraordinary journey that began with friends singing on the harbour in Port Isaac to raise money for local causes.
